postheadericon Thug Shot In Both Legs By Homeowner During Burglary

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — When a homeowner encountered two thugs breaking into his own garage, he took the fight to them, and he did it quickly.

It resulted in two bullets, one in each leg, for one of the bad guys — pretty much putting an end to his budding cross-country career for the time being, at least.

As KOB 4 reports:

According to a criminal complaint, a burglary didn’t go as planned for Rodolfo Serrano-Urias. Things turned when he and friend broke into Warren Wild’s garage on Los Tomases Drive early Tuesday morning.

Police said Wild heard something and checked the garage. He had a .40 caliber Glock handgun. When he saw the men he fired one round to scare them away. That’s when the two took off.

But Serrano-Urias didn’t get far. According to the report, Wild shot Serrano-Urias in the back of the leg as he jumped over the fence in the backyard, but that still didn’t stop him. The suspect then took off down Sunset Avenue when the homeowner shot him in the other leg.

At least that’s what the suspect told police. According to the homeowner, he only fired at Serrano-Urias while he was in the backyard. He said he pulled the trigger to protect himself and his wife, who was also outside.

Police found Serrano-Urias in the middle of the street in front of the home with two gunshot wounds, one in each leg.

Once again, we see one of the worst practices in the firearms community: the warning shot.

Folks, if your firearm is out and you choose to fire, you need to be firing to neutralize a threat, not to make a point.

And, as this story bears out, this homeowner had to fire on at least one of the burglars anyway — it’s not worth it.

Firing a shot as a warning is rarely an aimed shot, and it’s often not a shot about which a shooter has thought that much. The odds of hitting something you really don’t want to go much higher.

Stay safe out there, folks.

postheadericon Church Burglary Gone Wrong, Suspect Shot By Armed Churchgoer

DOTHAN, AL — A man is dead after deciding to take his life into his own hands, attempting to rob the occupants of a Baptist church in Alabama.

Dothan First reports that 26-year-old Steffon Tolver looked to score some easy money by robbing people on church grounds.

“He completed one robbery in which he received roughly $ 50 dollars and proceeded to try to rob someone else and the second person had a handgun and shot the suspect while he was in his office,” said police LT. Brian Smith according to Dothan First.

It was 10:30 p.m. on a Sunday. Workers were there prepping for the next week.

“They were getting ready to go on a youth trip and they were working late to get ready for the trip in the morning,” Smith said.

Some were confused as to why a church member had a gun on church grounds. However, Smith backs them.

“In a church or not wherever you are you have the chance to defend yourself in your home, you have certain additional rights,” he said.

OK, there are two things to remember here.

I have long told my friends — the most important place to be responsibly-armed is in a church, and that is a fact. Folks think of churches as places of peace — as well they should be. But that makes them appealing to bad guys.

Religious buildings have targets on their backs — regardless of faith. There is someone, somewhere, who does not want that faith to exist. So carry. You will be glad that you did.

Second — if you’re a bad guy — have a speck of ethics and try not to go robbing a church. For your sake, if not ours.

What a story! Please share this on Facebook and Twitter and let us know what you think about what happened!

postheadericon Prior Victim Of A Violent Burglary Shoots Intruder Who Wanted Seconds

JACKSON, MICHIGAN — A homeowner was forced to defend his life, family, and property when multiple intruders broke down the front door. For this homeowner, though, experience had proven that deadly force is the only acceptable response to home invasion. He shot his pistol at the intruders, critically striking one and sending the rest fleeing.

According to Michigan Live, this wasn’t the first time intruders had broken into the home. In one previous occurrence, they broke in and brutally beat the homeowner. The homeowner, at the time, only had a few hunting rifles and not much in terms of self defense. A prior veteran of the Army for eight years, he reflected that one violent incident is all it takes to prove you can’t count on the bad guys to play nice.

He was understandably shook up about shooting one of the intruders. His son came over once he heard the news and helped his father.

“And people want to ban guns, huh?” his son said. “My father would be dead right now.”

The injured intruder was treated at a nearby hospital where he is currently undergoing surgery and is expected to make a full recovery. Once he recovers, he will be charged with his crimes.

For a house with a history of being broken into and robbed, the criminal element that has been targeting him surely knows what to expect if they try again.

A nearby neighbor did a brief interview with a Michigan news outlet where he described the dangers potential criminals will face when coming through this neighborhood.

Suffice it to say, Michigan criminal elements aren’t particularly known for their sophisticated methods when it comes to violence. If for some odd reason some of them do watch this video, they’ll hopefully take heed.

What can we conclude about this incident?

Well, for those on the fence about owning a gun and carrying it, maybe it’s time to look at the reality of that situation. If you’re armed, you have a chance to fight back. If you’re not, you don’t.

Defending your life, your family, and your property doesn’t have to take a lot. Simply maintaining a self defense pistol or revolver and carrying it even while you’re at home ensures you’re just that much more prepared to handle yourself if intruders decide today is their lucky day.

postheadericon Teen Burglary Suspect Fatally Shot By Homeowner After Choosing Wrong House

MIAMI, FLORIDA — One family is irate following the death of their teenage son after he was shot and killed breaking into a home. In a follow-up to a previous article we covered, a 17-year-old was shot and killed by the homeowner after she returned home to find him exiting through a window. We’re covering this specifically to highlight that just because you act in due course of the law, don’t expect your attacker’s family to care at all about that.

According to Miami CBS, the police reported that the home had been burglarized previously in the past. The homeowner installed security and surveillance systems to monitor the home while she was away. When the homeowner was notified that her home had been broken into, she notified police and headed home to see what the damages were. When she got there, she found a 17-year-old thug climbing out her window.

While we covered the gist of that story in a previous article, we wanted to highlight the deceased burglar’s family’s opinion on the matter.

via Miami CBS Local

I don’t care if she have her gun license or any of that. That is way beyond the law… way beyond,” said the deceased burglar’s cousin. “He was not supposed to die like this. He had a future ahead of him. Trevon had goals… he was a funny guy, very big on education, loved learning.”

Get ready… It gets better.

“You have to look at it from every child’s point of view that was raised in the hood,” said Harris. “You have to understand… how he gonna get his money to have clothes to go to school? You have to look at it from his point-of-view.”

So, a homeowner returns home to her property after receiving a notification from her alarm system that her house is being broken into. She comes home to find a 17-year-old climbing out the window. When she confronts him, some manner of altercation took place. In the end, she used her legally licensed gun to neutralize the threat. The result was that teenager made a huge miscalculation and he died because of it.

And now we have an irate family yammering on about how he somehow has a right to another person’s belongings and should feel free to jeopardize that person’s right?

There is a massive disconnect in this world when we actually have to sit down and have a discussion about why society operates off of basic rules. A basic rule is you don’t take other people’s things. A second one is that if you’re willing to potentially assault someone or use force against her unlawfully, that person has a right to protect herself and her property.

The homeowner is believed to be in her mid-50s. She’s not about to scrap with some 17-year-old roughneck that doesn’t understand how property works. It’s tragic when anyone loses their life needlessly but in this particular case, there is definitely the absence of any notion of wrong-doing on behalf of the home owner.

Don’t get me wrong — if I lost a close family member to something stupid like this, I’d be emotional, too. I would, however, mind my words carefully on how I decide to phrase the argument that the family member had a transcendent right to violate another person.
