postheadericon CA Gunman Was “Known Felon” Who Left Neighbors Uneasy

The gunman is Tuesday’s shootings was known to neighbors as a problem, and would often harass them. Furthermore, the gunman was said to have been shooting a lot lately, which raises some questions…

Brian Flint said he got a call in the morning that his roommate was injured and that his truck had been stolen. It turned out his neighbor was the gunman, Flint said.

“The crazy thing is that the neighbor has been shooting a lot of bullets lately, hundreds of rounds, large magazines,” Flint said. “We made it aware that this guy is crazy and he’s been threatening us.”

Living near the gunman was “hell,” Flint said, and the man was a known felon who often harassed him and his neighbors.

If a known felon is out shooting guns, that’s a red flag to anyone with half a brain, because it is illegal for a convicted felon to own firearms.

According to KHSLTV and neighbors, the gunman was out on bond for stabbing a female neighbor. Neighbors also say that they alerted law enforcement for weeks about the gunman’s behavior and his apparent shooting guns late at night.

The “known felon” comment could have come from the charges that the gunman was out on bond for, which wouldn’t make him a felon yet, because he was not convicted of any crimes. Whether his past shows any felony convictions is still unknown.

Witnesses said one man died in his driveway as a result of the first round of bullets. Neighbors there say they had been complaining for weeks about the gunman, who lived on the street, firing his gun late at night and early in the morning.

This story is developing and we will update this article as information becomes available.

UPS spokesman Steve Gaut told reporters that a UPS employee in uniform opened fire on other employees and then “turned the gun on himself.”

Original Article:

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA — A gunman opened fire this morning at a UPS facility in San Francisco, killing two and then turning the gun on himself.

As CNN reports;

UPS spokesman Steve Gaut released a statement saying four employees were involved in a “shooting incident” but that the company cannot provide any identifications until the police investigation is complete.

“We understand that there are potentially multiple deaths, although some individuals were transported to the hospital and we are unsure of their status at this time,” the statement said. “The company is saddened and deeply concerned about affected employees, family members and the community we share.”

The gunman is said to have been taken to the hospital, and his condition is not known at this time. Reports have not identified the gunman, nor any affiliation that he may have had with the victims or business.

Employees at a UPS facility in San Francisco were asked to put their hands up as they left the building, according to Kevin Wood, who took this picture from his home across the street.

The San Francisco Police Department released a series of tweets to update the public on the incident, and have lifted the ‘shelter in place’.

We will post more information as it becomes available.

postheadericon Masked Gunman Shot And Killed By Off-Duty Officer In California

STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA — A San Joaquin County deputy shot and killed one attacker and send another running after two masked men attempted to ambush him outside his apartment complex.

The incident occurred around 10:40 p.m. according to the Los Angeles Times. When the deputy saw two masked, armed men approaching him in the parking lot of his apartment, he drew his gun and opened fire. One of the men, now identified as Keenan Bradley, was injured and died at the scene. The other fled.

Officer Joseph Silva, spokesman for Stockton Police Department, did his best to answer the host of unanswered questions about the motivation behind this attempted crime.

“He [the deputy] did not know if he was being robbed, carjacked, or targeted because he was law enforcement,” Silva said. “Everything happened so fast. He just remembers seeing the guns pointed to his face.”

The fast reflexes and situational awareness of that deputy likely saved his life.

It would have been all too easy to stumble outside at 10:30 p.m. and be oblivious to who’s moving through the apartment complex’s parking lot. Thankfully he wasn’t.

The other thing that saved his life? His ability to use a handgun.

In California, concealed carry permits are issued on a county-by-county basis. In some counties, the process may be easier than others. Some, like San Francisco and Los Angeles counties, it can be outright impossible.

As a member of law enforcement, this officer is allowed to keep a gun on him at all times. He’s subject to far fewer restrictions about what he carries and how he carries it.

For the average Californian heading out to his or her car at 10:30 p.m. on a weekday, he would be at the mercy of those two masked, armed men.

Law-abiding citizens of California have a hell of a time obtaining a concealed carry permit. There are still tens of thousands of legally registered concealed carriers. According to a report by Reveal, there are approximately 71,000 active concealed carriers in the state of California. That means the average Californian is statistically unlikely to be armed once he or she is outside the home.

Easy pickings for carjackers, thieves, and killers.

Maybe those two criminals targeted the deputy because he was a deputy. In which case, at least one of them got what he deserved. Or, as could be the case, they were just too stupid to know the deputy was one of the few Californians carrying a handgun.

No matter. One of them lost the odds on that gig and now he’s joined the majority.

postheadericon UPDATE: UCLA Shooting Leaves Two Dead, Gunman Believed Dead

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA — Two are reported dead after being shot to death by an unidentified assailant on the campus of UCLA in the Engineering IV building. Students are being evacuated while law enforcement clear the campus. With the campus located in downtown Los Angeles, police are expected to have a monumental task in locking down and securing the campus area from the rest of the metropolis.

According to CNN, Los Angeles Police Department has issued a “tactical alert” which will extend out their police force across the city.

via CNN

“So far we don’t know the nature of the shooting,” CNN senior law enforcement analyst Tom Fuentes said. “If it’s a personal thing between a couple of students, then it will be a local police matter. If by chance it turned into a terrorist situation, then the FBI would have primary justification over that.”

The two people who died on campus as a result of this shooting have not been identified as either students or faculty. It is unknown if the shooting suspect is still on campus. And factors revolving around actually finding out if the assailant is still on campus or if he has escaped are pretty hard to pin down in a major metropolitan university campus.

UPDATE: The person responsible for the gun-related deaths is believed to be dead. LAPD officers have recovered a firearm from the scene and have identified what they believe to be the person who perpetrated the attacks.

We can rule out law-abiding concealed carriers on the campus of UCLA as the UCLA campus is “protected” by California’s Gun Free School Zone Act which prohibits all legal carry of firearms onto the campuses of universities and schools across the state.

So the only person on campus with a gun has to be a bad guy because there’s nobody left. And let’s take a wild guess and say he probably didn’t stop to contemplate the gravity of all the laws he was about to break by carrying illegally onto the UCLA campus.

Students received an alert some time after the shooting occurred.

via CNN

“We got the alert and a woman said, ‘This is not a joke, everyone get to the back of the dining hall because we have to stay away from the windows,’” Freshman Teddi Mattox told CNN. “We’re crowded back here, we’ve been here for at least an hour and a half. People are crying, they’re nervous, they’re shaking.”

Students are still sheltering in place while law enforcement go from building to building.
Because of the nature of this case, it highlights the importance of allowing law abiding citizens with the legal ability to carry concealed to do so where ever possible.

Coming from the state that decided to require background checks for ammunition purchases, it’s probably time for the citizens of California to seriously consider who they have placed their legislative trust in.

postheadericon Kalamazoo Gunman Blames Uber For His Mass Murder Spree

By Robert Farago via The Truth About Guns

“A Kalamazoo Uber driver accused of killing six people and wounding two others last month told police that the ride-sharing app took over his ‘mind and body’ and made him carry out the rampage,” reports. “In a series of interviews with police in the hours after the Feb. 20 shootings, Jason Dalton, 45, blamed the killings on the Uber app, saying his iPhone directed him where to go and when to shoot people.” Analog cab companies who have been hurt by the on-line ride provider now know the secret behind Uber’s success: it’s a tool of Satan . . .

Dalton told police that earlier that Saturday when he opened up the Uber ride service app, a symbol, which he believed was the Eastern Star, popped up. Dalton said the symbol resembled a devil’s head and “that’s when all the problems started.”

“Dalton described the devil figure as a horned cow head or something like that and then it would give you an assignment and it would literally take over your whole body,” according to police reports released Monday to the Free Press by the Kalamazoo City Attorney’s Office.

But despite his well documented malevolence, the boys in blue enjoyed some sympathy from the Devil.

Dalton said he would have gotten in a shootout with police when he was arrested, but the app directed him not to.

Or maybe Dalton’s just full of bovine fertilizer.

His wife, Carole Dalton, told investigators with the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office that he had told her a different story. She said he told her that day that he was having problems with a jealous taxi driver who’d shot at him, and that she should stay away from their home unless she was armed, according to sheriff’s reports also released Monday.

Not that an altercation like that — if it ever really happened — explains gunning down six innocent people. Either way, it’s yet another argument for staying calm and carrying one. And, if you’re a driver, maybe switching to Lyft.
