postheadericon Man Forces Himself Into Woman’s Car With Knife, But She Has A Surprise Waiting For Him

MOLINE, ILLINOIS — No one wants to be faced with an armed criminal, especially one armed with a knife who just forced his way into your vehicle.

But that incident was stopped because the woman who was the intended victim was armed and ready to defend herself.

Local media reports;

During a struggle, the woman’s arm was cut, the statement said.  The armed man then forced her to drive him to a rural area of Rock Island County.

Once they stopped, the victim – who had a concealed carry permit – was able to get to her firearm, according to Griffin’s statement.  The armed man then ran off and the victim drove herself to the hospital, where police were then called.

Police were able to locate 61-year-old Floyd R. May, who was charged with numerous crimes stemming from the failed attempt.

May looks pretty sad in his mug shot above, and that’s probably because he knows that he was beat by an armed citizen who refused to be his victim.

Having your firearm close by and within easy reach inside your vehicle can sometimes be a tricky thing, but it’s important to have the plan in place before something like this happens. It’s fortunate that this woman was able to retrieve her firearm in time to get May to back off.

This woman, at some point in her life, made the choice to get her concealed carry permit. It was a wise one indeed, and we’re grateful that this incident turned out the way it did.

Here’s to armed citizens everywhere, and a reminder to criminals that we’re ready.

postheadericon [UPDATED] Angry Ex-Employee Kills 5 At Orlando Business Before Killing Himself

UPDATE @ 3:00pm EST

The identities of four victims have been released by police. The victims are Robert Snyder, 69; Brenda Montanez-Crespo, 44; Kevin Clark, 53; and Jeffrey Roberts, 57. The ID of one victim has not been released.

The gunman, who has been identified as John Robert Neumann Jr., was said to have specifically targeted people during the shooting. One of the witnesses told police that Neumann pointed his gun at her and told her to leave.

The shooting took place in multiple locations inside the business.

Original article:

ORLANDO, FLORIDA — A man, who police say was fired from his job in April, went back to his old employer Monday morning and began shooting. The victims included his old boss, as well as 4 others who have not been identified.

From CNN:

Police have not named the dead gunman, 45, but say he has no ties to terror or subversive groups.

Police responded to the call about 8 a.m. at Fiamma Inc., which makes accessories for recreational vehicles, Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said. The business is located in an industrial area northeast of downtown.

Three men and a woman were found dead at the scene, Demings said. Another man died at Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Seven others were inside the business when the shootings took place.

The man responsible has not been identified, but was said to be 45 years old.

Around 8am, police went to the business after receiving a call of shots fired. By the time police arrived, the gunman had taken his own life. He was said to be armed with a knife and handgun.

In 2014, police were called to the same business for a ‘workplace violence’ incident involving the same man responsible for the killings, although no charges were filed.

Check this space for more information as it becomes available.

postheadericon Man Shoots Himself In The Goods While Exiting Vehicle: Why The Right Holster Matters

TOLEDO, OHIO — A man exiting his car needed to call 911 in a hurry, because the firearm he was carrying had discharged. Into his penis.

The single gunshot wound went through his penis and thigh, eventually hitting the driver seat. We can only imagine that his firearm wasn’t holstered properly, as that’s the likely culprit of a negligent discharge while moving around in such a fashion. Or, maybe he wasn’t using a holster at all.

News reports say that he’s in the hospital with serious injuries but is expected to be ok. How ok he’s expected to be isn’t clear, but hopefully he’s really ok.

We’ve seen things like this happen before and it’s never a pretty sight. If you’re not using a holster, or if you’re using a crappy holster, it’s time to re-evaluate your setup. If you don’t, you could wind up in a story on our website.

postheadericon Armed Robber At A Denny’s Ends Up Shooting Himself In The Face After Victim Runs Him Down In His Car

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA — At least three robbers, one of whom was armed, attempted to hold up a victim outside a Denny’s restaurant on 132nd and Hawthorne Boulevard. The victim escaped into his car. During the escape, the armed robber got in between the victim and his escape so the victim ran him down.

According to Mercury News, the armed robber shot himself in the mouth when he was struck by the car. Police admitted the robber into the hospital where they say it appears the gunshot was accidental in nature.

“Right now it sounds like it was an accidental, self-inflicted (shooting) when he got hit by the car,” Lt. Steve Romero said. “The suspect shot himself accidentally.”

The round is believed to have gone through the robber’s mouth and come out the front of his face. He missed the training class where they taught that you take your finger off the trigger until you’re ready to fire.

It’s another example of victims refusing to be victims and bad guys with guns not knowing how to properly use them. No surprises there. And it’s no surprise his buddies left him behind. After all, when a violent felony takes place and one of the criminals dies or gets injured, his accomplices are charged with that damage.

Looks like more than one criminal skipped out on the check at that Denny’s.

For those targets by armed robbers, it’s hard to know what comes of an attempt to escape or fight back. It’s a constant worry in a lot of people’s minds as to whether they’ll just roll over and play dead or attempt to flee.

Here’s the thing: when you have three bad guys and their own vehicle, there’s the opportunity to be taken hostage in addition to simply robbed or assaulted. And let’s not eliminate the option of getting shot. If this armed robber wasn’t smart enough to keep his finger off the trigger, there’s a real chance that we encounter a Pulp Fiction backseat scenario.

Fight, flee, or play dead. Those are the three options when staring down the face of a group of armed criminals. This victim chose to do the first two and leave the third option for his attacker.

postheadericon Security Guard Defends Himself After Man Attempts To Run Him Down With Vehicle — Why Guns Matter

COLUMBUS, OHIO — A security guard rushed to the aid of a woman who was assaulted by a 25-year-old male suspect. When the suspect was forced to retreat, he got into his car and attempted to strike the security guard with his vehicle. Thankfully, the security guard was armed.

When Columbus police arrived on the scene, they found the driver of the car collapsed against the steering column. He had a grave gunshot wound to his upper torso that is believed to have come from the security guard defending his own life. They rushed him to a nearby medical center where the suspect’s condition remains critical.

According to Columbus’ ABC 6 News, police say the security guard fired a single shot in self-defense. He was properly licensed to carry a firearm and investigators believe he shot the suspect out of fear for his own life and safety.

Prior to the defensive gun use, the security guard said he rushed to a woman’s aid as she was being assaulted in a parking lot. The man who assaulted her then got into his car and attempted to ram the security guard. The security guard was able to fire one shot and strike his attacker in the upper torso, causing him to crash. No charges have been filed against the gun carrier.

This is why it’s so important to be armed every single day. Whether your profession is security or you’re just doing some holiday shopping at the mall, it’s important to keep your gun on you at all times. There is absolutely no telling what craziness will occur around you. As for this security guard, he obviously took his job seriously. When seeing a person in distress, he came to her aid. In the course of doing that, he was forced to defend his own life.

If he had been struck by the vehicle, he could have been seriously injured or killed. That’s no way to go out in this world while you’re simply trying to help others survive. As for his attacker, he can look forward to facing charges when and if he ever leaves that hospital. There’s angry people in this world and unfortunately, as security or just a person who interacts with the public a lot, you’re bound to run into at least one sooner or later.

Keeping that gun on you, knowing how and when to use it properly, and maintaining simple situational awareness can inevitably save your life. Your life is worth it. Carry everyday.

postheadericon Elderly Detroit Man Forced To Defend Himself — One Burglar Dead, One Lesson Learned

DETROIT, MICHIGAN — An elderly homeowner is forced to come to grips with taking the life of a 16-year-old man who broke into his home with the help of another 18-year-old. He initially refused to talk to the news after authorities found the body of the 16-year-old in the backyard. Both teenagers broke into the man’s house at around 3:05 a.m.

According to WXYZ Detroit, both teenagers violently broke in through the back of the home. Pictures released from the scene indicate they used an excessive amount of force in bashing down a part of the patio. This man likely had very little time to react to save his own life.

The hard part about these types of stories is that the homeowner did what he had to do in order to survive — but it may take awhile to fully acknowledge that. No one said it was easy defending your own life in your own home but it’s a responsibility none of us take lightly.

Police are still investigating the break-in. The second suspect escaped while the first one is obviously dead and can’t tell no tales. It will be extremely hard to identify or locate the second suspect.

In places like Detroit, there’s never a lack of violence. Whether it’s on the street, in the store, or right inside one’s own home, desperate times create desperate men — and some of those men either don’t care or don’t want to care about what they try to do next.

It’s our job to defend ourselves. There’s no politics involved. It’s a simple decision to not be a victim.

This story is still being investigated. Police are not likely to file charges until a complete investigation has taken place. We hope this man is safe until then and that other criminals in the area took the example of the previous two and don’t push for a second chance opportunity. It looks like one resident in that neighborhood of Detroit doesn’t want uninvited guests.

postheadericon “You Just Never Know Who’s Packing Heat”: Senior Citizen Defends Himself And Wife Against Two Thugs On Philly Street

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA — “I think the moral of the story is you just never know who’s packing heat,” said Anthony Conte, who spoke with reporters after an incident involving two young males and an elderly couple.

The incident happened Tuesday night while an elderly man and his wife were walking down the street, on their way back home after work. What happened next was unprovoked, and something they never thought would happen.

They told police two men passed them. One of those men said to the husband, “What are you looking at?” then punched him, threw him to the ground and continued assaulting him.

Then they turned their attention to the wife, in her 50s, punching and knocking her down as well.

When the fists started flying, the elderly man, known in the neighborhood as a long-time resident and goes by ‘Old Man Sal’ according to locals, warned the young men that he had a firearm.

“They attack him. They attacked his wife. He begged to stop. Him and his wife pulled away. They kept on coming,” said Kenneth Young. “He explained he has a firearm. They said they don’t care. They punched him in the face.”

Leaving no other options, Old Man Sal drew his .45 caliber pistol and fired shots at the young men, hitting one in the stomach and the other in the shoulder near his neck.

Surveillance video shows the young men walking across the street, injured, and eventually finding a bench for them to relax on… and take in the severity of their wounds. Police found them and took them both to the hospital. The suspects are said to be in stable condition.

ScreenHunter_258 Mar. 03 01.51

In the image above, you can see the suspect hunched over while sitting down, likely feeling something worse than heartburn in his abdomen. His accomplice, standing up, is seen holding his hand on his shoulder wound. Both injuries are courtesy of an elderly man who decided to carry a firearm in order to keep himself and his wife from being easy targets.

Police are calling this a case of self-defense.

An attorney for the couple says that the man suffered extensive damage to his face and eye.

“This was a matter of life or death. If he didn’t do what he did, and he didn’t have the training to do it. I think we would be at a funeral right now. It’s that bad,” Young said.

When good, honest people are able to defend themselves against crime, it’s a good day. I wish the couple a quick and full recovery, and hope for swift justice against their young attackers.
