postheadericon [VIDEO] The Thompson Submachine Gun’s Rich History and Range Experience

Any movie or historical enthusiast will tell you the Thompson submachine gun is an American Icon with a rich history with military, law enforcement, civilians and gangsters. Developed in 1918, John Thompson sought to replace the bolt action rifle with an auto rifle chambered in .45 ACP. Over time and with some financial backing, the company Auto Ordnance was created.

Thompson, with the help of other designers, envisioned a hand held one man operated submachine gun. Once their vision was realised, the Thompson submachine gun became a reality and production began in 1921. Over time, the “Tommy Gun” made it’s way to the United States.

The Thompson was attractive due to it’s fast rate of fire. I was amazed at how fast the Thompson fired. Notice in the video above how quick a 30 round stick magazine was spent. However, the Thompson was criticized by some for it’s heavy weight, poor accuracy past 50 yards and it’s lack of penetration with the .45 ACP.

The Thompson submachine gun gained popularity with depression era gangsters and the law enforcement officers who pursued them. It quickly became known as the “Tommy Gun,” “Chicago Typewriter” or the “Annihilator.” As the years passed, the Thompson submachine gun became a famous part of American history.

I had an incredible opportunity to experience a “Tommy Gun” myself. I say “incredible” because Thompson submachine guns are rare, expensive and subject to NFA regulations which makes it near impossible for the average American to experience this rifle let alone own one. In today’s market, a decent condition Full Auto Thompson is priced between $ 20,000 – $ 25,000.
The Thompson’s also became famous with their high capacity drum magazines that the Hollywood film makers loved to feature. The rifle I fired was equipped with several 30 round stick mags which I found easy to reload and continuing to fire away.

The video above explains the features, controls, magazines and shooting impressions. To experience a Thompson, people may have to go to a range and rent this rifle for a hefty price as a range officer looks over their shoulder. I was fortunate enough to have a friend who owns this rifle and was more than happy to let me show it off. If you ever get the chance to experience a full auto Thompson submachine gun, by all means check it out. Spend a few extra bucks on ammo because the 30 round sticks sure go fast. American Icon and Hollywood favorite? No doubt. A blast at the range? Like an experience I will never forget.

postheadericon Young Man With A History Of Violence, Hopped Up On Drugs, Tries To Grab Homeowner’s Gun — Guess The Ending Of This Story

SLIDELL, LOUISIANA — A 22-year-old hopped up on cold medicine began acting irate and bashing a man’s truck in his driveway. When the homeowner came out, he told the man to leave. Instead of leaving, Seth Flores tried to grab the man’s gun. He was shot once in the neck and five more times center of mass. By the time police arrived, he was dead.

According to WWLTV 4 News, the homeowner will face no charges.

Prior to the incident, Flores showed up at his ex-girlfriend’s house and harassed her and her mother before they called 911. He fled the scene and then showed up at the homeowner’s property.

The mother of the ex-girlfriend lamented Flores’ death, saying that he shouldn’t have been shot.

“A life cannot be replaced,” she said. “I believe that he shouldn’t have been shot. He (Hicks) should have just shut the door and called the cops.”

Sorry, hun. That’s not how real life works. This isn’t a Lifetime Channel or Oxygen Network television movie. When a man grabs for another man’s gun, that’s a threat against his life.

What if Flores, in an altered state of mind and already acting aggressively, were to have taken hold of that handgun?

Does anyone think it would have ended well for the homeowner?

The homeowner did what he had to do to protect himself. Flores, under the influence of drugs, decided to present himself as a clear and imminent threat on another man’s property.

The minor details of why he was angry are irrelevant. That’s the thing about emotions: you’re free to have them. No one can tell you what to feel. But the second a person acts upon those emotions and does so in an aggressive, dangerous way that affects other people’s lives, it becomes their problem.

Fun facts about Seth Flores: he has a criminal history of violent behavior. This isn’t a man who makes rational decisions when he gets angry. Whether or not the homeowner knew that background or not is outside the purview of this article. The point is: there’s a man with a history of violence banging on the front door and breaking property. When he’s asked to leave, Flores tries to grab the homeowner’s gun.

Lover’s quarrel? Case of mistaken identity? Who knows? But more importantly, after Flores decided to threaten a man on his own property — those details stop mattering.

As for the gun owner, he’ll have to deal with the emotional ramifications of his actions for the rest of his life. It’s doubtful he would ever want to take another man’s life. He probably also didn’t want a madman smashing up his parked vehicle and trying to kill him.

As for the police that showed up, they likely would have had to deal with Flores’ violent behavior. After all, one of his previous charges is assaulting a police officer. Poor decision making skills and a penchant for assault… What’s not to love?

Defend your home, your property, and yourself as you see fit within the context of the law. Don’t take chances with violent people. That is all.

postheadericon VOTE NOW: The Best Holster In The History Of Ever, Version 2016

Back in our early days of 2014, we ran a very successful poll and asked one simple question: Which holster company is your favorite? Over 20,000 votes were captured.

Well, we’re doing it again. Except this time, it’s going to be a little more personal.

The great folks over at the /CCW subreddit released a poll that showed not only what holsters people owned, but which ones they actually used. We couldn’t agree more that there’s a big difference, and we wanted to see what results we could come up with in comparison.

The new poll below aims to find the Utilization Rate of holsters, as well as other variables, by asking five simple questions:

1) What holster(s) have you owned?
2) What holster(s) have you actually used on a regular basis?
3) What holster is the most comfortable?
4) What holster is the best bang for your buck?
5) Which holster companies have seen your repeat business?

That’s it! The poll will run for the entire month of March. At the end, we’ll find the utilization rate for each holster voted on, as well as the #1 most comfortable holster and the #1 best bang for your buck, and see just how many of you have gone back to the same company for more products.

RULES FOR PARTICIPANTS

You may vote ONCE, for the duration of the poll. If your holster(s) is not on the current list, you may add it at the end of each question by filling out the name of the holster company in the ‘Other’ field.

RULES FOR HOLSTER COMPANIES

Any holster company may share this page URL to give their fans access to the poll. However, holster companies may not entice or solicit responses by offering any type of giveaway for participating, or any other method in an attempt to solicit participation, other than providing the link to this page. Any holster companies found to engage is such activity will be immediately disqualified from the poll, at the discretion of Concealed Nation.

postheadericon ‘Halo 5: Guardians’ smashes record with biggest Halo launch in history

REDMOND, Wash. — Nov. 4, 2015 — One week after launching worldwide, “Halo 5: Guardians” has made history as the biggest Halo launch and fastest-selling Xbox One exclusive game to date, with more than $ 400 million in global sales of “Halo 5: Guardians” games and hardware, pushing the franchise to over $ 5 billion lifetime. With the highest week one attach rate for a Microsoft first-party title on Xbox One, the game was the most played of any game on Xbox One, as well as the most played on Xbox Live.

Fans have logged more than 21 million hours of total gameplay, including 12 million hours in campaign mode alone. The widely praised multiplayer modes have also led to 9 million total hours played with nearly 7 million multiplayer matches played across Arena and the all-new Warzone mode. In addition, Halo fans are taking to the new Requisition System in a big way, with over 45 million REQ Packs acquired, totaling more than 568 million REQ Cards.

Last week’s “Halo 5: Live” earned a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the most watched video game launch broadcast, setting a precedent with more than 330,000 unique streams on the evening of the broadcast. In addition, content from the broadcast generated 5.5 million total views throughout the week. This resulted in a spike in digital sales of “Halo 5: Guardians,” leading to it becoming the best-selling digital game ever in the Xbox Store for an opening week.

“The success of ‘Halo 5: Guardians’ is a testament to the innovative work from the entire team at 343 Industries to bring this installment to Xbox One and the incredible community of fans who have come to love the story, characters and gameplay central to the franchise,” said Phil Spencer, head of Xbox. “The game represents all the possibilities of Xbox One and has earned its place as the anchor title in the greatest holiday games lineup in Xbox history.”

Fans around the world have discovered the pure entertainment of what The Verge calls “an absolute masterclass in how to craft a first-person shooter” and currently the highest rated Xbox One exclusive, first-person shooter game of 2015, according to Metacritic. A custom Twitter emoji of the Master Chief — the first ever for a video game franchise — is the result of Twitter’s hunt for partnerships with iconic, global brands. The buzz also extended to Twitch, where “Halo 5: Guardians” was the most streamed Xbox One exclusive game, with more than 3 million hours watched in the first week.

Just as fans are diving into “Halo 5: Guardians,” professional players as young as 13 years old are also getting ready for the Halo World Championship that begins later this year. The competition will run December through March and be divided into five regions, with the best players from the U.S. and Canada, Europe, along with the Middle East and Africa, Greater Asia, Latin America, as well as Australia and New Zealand coming together to battle for dominance. Due to the crowd funding enabled through the “Halo 5: Guardians” REQ System, the overall prize pool has reached $ 1.5 million and continues to grow daily. Additional information can be found by visiting halo.gg.

“Halo 5: Guardians” is available now for $ 59.99 (estimated retail price) at more than 110 Microsoft stores in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico, microsoftstore.com, other major U.S. retailers, as well as via digital download.
