postheadericon Woman Is Shot After Forcing Herself Into Home

LEXINGTON, KY — A woman in her twenties was shot while attempting to break into the home of a woman in her forties — a total stranger.

The early morning scuffle was a bit of a statistical anomaly.

As WKYT reports:

Police say it happened around 4:45 a.m. at a home on Talisman Road, in the Garden Springs neighborhood off Lane Allen Road. Officials say a woman in her 40s was home alone when a woman in her 20s came banging on her door, eventually breaking through a window. Police say the homeowner fired a shot at the intruder.

The woman was taken to UK Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, and will likely be charged with breaking and entering. Police believe the home was randomly targeted.

Now, as some of the more regular readers here (or on any other news site) can tell you, it’s really not that common for women to commit crimes of this nature, especially alone.

There was a time where I wasn’t sure how much of that discrepancy was perception as opposed to an honest-to-goodness difference in number of arrests.

I looked up some statistics on the issue to see what was what, and I was stunned.

Although the information I’m about to share is from a 2012 review by the FBI, I don’t see any reason why we shouldn’t believe that the information is at least pretty close to today.

Women are arrested far less often than men. From that, we can pretty safely assume that women also commit less crime.

Of the 9.5 million people arrested in 2012, the FBI reports, only 2.5 million were women.

That’s less than a third.

And for the particular crime of burglary, the contrast is even more stark. Approximately 184,000 men were arrested for burglary, while just over 36,000 women were arrested for the same.

That’s about 16.4 percent women arrested for committing that offense.

Finding an incident where a woman defended herself from another woman breaking into her home and no one seems to have known each other is pretty darn remarkable.

postheadericon Woman Shoots Teen In Head After He And Others Breaks Into Her Home

HOUSTON, TEXAS — A teenager who broke into a woman’s house was shot in the head by that woman, and is now in critical condition but expected to survive.

The incident played out as follows, and other teens are thought to have been involved;

The woman said she was home alone when she heard someone breaking into her home. A relative told Eyewitness News reporter Pooja Lodhia that the teens were hiding behind the victim’s couch when one of them jumped up. That’s when she shot the suspect in the head.

What these teens were up to is anyone’s guess, but they sure did pick the wrong house to enter uninvited.

As for the friends of the shot teen, let’s hope that they are charged with whatever crimes are coming their way. From the article, it is unclear whether the others involved were caught or if they made a run for it after losing a member of their thug team.

Armed at home? It’s always a smart thing. Your firearm should never be too far away and ideally, if you’re awake, should be on your person. Things can happen in an instant, and there’s no telling how quickly you’ll need to access your firearm.

postheadericon Man Comes Home To Burglar, Who He Shoots And Kills On Sight

MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA — 42-year-old Danny Williams was fatally shot after breaking into a home in an attempted burglary.

Williams was shot by the homeowner as he returned from home and found Williams inside.

Police are still investigating, but believe that Williams broke into the home and that the shooting was justified self-defense.

As with many of these similar stories, there isn’t much to say surrounding the details of the incident. It’s usually a three step process:

  1. Intruder enters home
  2. Armed occupant engages intruder
  3. Intruder leaves in either A) a hurry or B) an ambulance

So, here’s to the armed citizen for being able to defend themselves against criminals who look to disrupt our way of life.

postheadericon Home Invader Shot Multiple Times, Learns The Thug Life Sucks

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS — A man in his 40’s, which is too old to be breaking into homes, was quickly stopped when the homeowner opened fire as he tried to break in.

Local media reports;

A 44-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body at 10:54 p.m. as he was trying to break into a home in the 4500 block of South St. Lawrence, according to Chicago Police.

The homeowner told investigators that he opened fire after the man forced his way into the home with a crowbar, police said. The suspect then jumped into a vehicle, which fled to Mercy Hospital. The man was expected to be transferred in critical condition to Stroger Hospital.

There isn’t a whole lot more to say about this story, except for this; What I don’t understand with thugs is the following:

  • They think they’re tough
  • When faced with an armed ‘victim’, they run
  • That makes them not so tough
  • Then, they want medical attention after being shot

A true thug would go home with his bullet wounds and pull the bullets out himself after chugging some hard liquor to dull the pain. That’s true thug life. But alas, these criminals are pansies and want proper medical attention so they don’t die. What kind of thug is that?

postheadericon Suspected Intruder Shot While Attempting Entry to Home, Confusion Emerges

HERNANDO, MS — A man was shot while attempting to enter a woman’s home in the middle of the night Friday, WREG reports.

Now, in the aftermath, there seems to be some confusion about just who the victim is.

According to WREG:

The incident happened in the 11000 block of Sunset Drive in Hernando. Deputies were called for a reported burglary.

According to the Desoto County Sheriff’s Department, the woman was home when the man tried to make his way inside around 2:30 a.m.

She grabbed a gun and opened fire, shooting through the door and hitting the suspect.

The suspect was taken to Baptist Desoto but was eventually rushed to the Regional Medical Center. He was listed as stable with a gunshot to the arm, authorities said. The homeowner was not injured.

The sheriff’s department said later Friday that the woman and man were acquainted. A news release referred to the man as a “victim.”

There are two ways this could go.

This could be a man who knew the resident and that relationship was not at all pleasant. His attempting to enter in the middle of the night would certainly seem to back that line of reasoning.

In that case, the woman was well within her rights, and the news release was miserably-phrased.

However, it could be the case that the two were acquainted, and the man tried to enter the house and the woman shot him not realizing who it was.

If that was the case, then the fault would lie firmly with the woman who failed to recognize who she was pointing a gun at.

Both are tragic scenarios, and either way this should serve as a strong reminder to us to always know exactly what we’re aiming at.

postheadericon Four Intruders Enter Home, Hurt Dog, Couple Works As A Team To End The Assault

SUMMERFIELD, FLORIDA — Having a gun gives us at least a fighting chance in the event that a home invader manages to get in. One couple recently realized just how important it is to be armed.

From clickorlando.com;

“The fatal shooting was reported at 10:30 p.m. at a house on SE 158th Place in Summerfield. According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the home in connection with an armed home invasion.

The victim said that he was about to go to bed when four masked people entered his home and injured his dog.

“I just heard my back door get kicked in and next thing I know, my dog ran out and I heard a gun shot,” the victim said. “And the next thing I know, a guy was meeting me at my door with a gun, stuck the gun in my door. I slammed the door and the gun just started going off.”

The victim said that his girlfriend, who was in the closet at the time, threw the shotgun to him so he could defend them.

He shot one of the intruders, who was identified Wednesday as Shawn King, 32. King was dropped off outside the Ocala Health Summerfield Emergency Room, where he died.

The homeowner told reporters that his dog, Zeus, is recovering after being shot in the head during the invasion.

I read one time that just the fear of being shot is often enough to dissuade criminals from targeting certain homes. Do you believe it? Leave your comments below to get the discussion going. I would say that those invaders, and a lot of others, don’t take that into consideration. Then when they stumble upon a home with armed occupants, it’s probably going to be a bad day for them. Here’s to show how important carrying your firearm is, or in this particular situation, being alert and acting wisely with a little team effort.

postheadericon Here’s Why You Don’t Get Stupid Drunk And Enter The Wrong Home

Tuolumne County, California — A man, highly intoxicated after being at a party, tried to enter a home and was forced to run away after being shot by a woman who believed him to be breaking in. Police believe that the man, who had been at a party, simply tried to enter a place that he thought was the party.

The man’s BAC was .250 which is three times the legal limit for the state. When the woman at home noticed the attempted break-in, she secured her windows and doors and called 911 to report the incident. She also hid her children upstairs.

Then, she armed herself with a handgun.

Authorities said that while she was on the phone with a dispatcher, the intruder entered the home through a door. The resident fired one shot at him and causing an injury that was not life-threatening, police said.

The man fled and was found by police in a neighboring home where he’d been attending a party just before breaking into the woman’s house, officials said.

The man hasn’t been charged with any crimes yet, but police are still investigating the case. He was taken to the hospital after the incident and treated for his injuries.
