postheadericon Four Intruders Enter Home, Hurt Dog, Couple Works As A Team To End The Assault

SUMMERFIELD, FLORIDA — Having a gun gives us at least a fighting chance in the event that a home invader manages to get in. One couple recently realized just how important it is to be armed.

From clickorlando.com;

“The fatal shooting was reported at 10:30 p.m. at a house on SE 158th Place in Summerfield. According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the home in connection with an armed home invasion.

The victim said that he was about to go to bed when four masked people entered his home and injured his dog.

“I just heard my back door get kicked in and next thing I know, my dog ran out and I heard a gun shot,” the victim said. “And the next thing I know, a guy was meeting me at my door with a gun, stuck the gun in my door. I slammed the door and the gun just started going off.”

The victim said that his girlfriend, who was in the closet at the time, threw the shotgun to him so he could defend them.

He shot one of the intruders, who was identified Wednesday as Shawn King, 32. King was dropped off outside the Ocala Health Summerfield Emergency Room, where he died.

The homeowner told reporters that his dog, Zeus, is recovering after being shot in the head during the invasion.

I read one time that just the fear of being shot is often enough to dissuade criminals from targeting certain homes. Do you believe it? Leave your comments below to get the discussion going. I would say that those invaders, and a lot of others, don’t take that into consideration. Then when they stumble upon a home with armed occupants, it’s probably going to be a bad day for them. Here’s to show how important carrying your firearm is, or in this particular situation, being alert and acting wisely with a little team effort.

postheadericon Veteran Takes Hit With Firearm, Shoots Three Intruders And Makes It Out Alive

THEODORE, AL — In an unbelievable testimony of just how tough our United States armed servicemen and women can be, a Marine veteran fended off a 3-man burglary into his home single-handedly, and with a gunshot wound.

62-year-old Michael Irving, a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, was attacked by three individuals, Chasatie Dulabhan, Casey Ray Gann, and Joseph Heathcock, armed with a shotgun and a handgun.

They looked for an easy burglary. They looked in the wrong place.

“I walked right here to open the door, and that’s when he shot me right there,” Irving recalled according to WALA.

“They cut loose on me, and that’s when I went to the cabinet here and back behind the coffee was an old time pistol. I opened the door and smoked ’em.”

It gets even better.

Keeping in mind that this man has already been shot, he managed to shoot all three of the suspects — and do so deliberately, with non-lethal shots.

“I tried not to shoot any of them in the chest. I didn’t want to have to kill ’em,” he said.

Although you really shouldn’t listen to anyone who says anything other than “shoot to kill” in a life-and-death scenario like this, it’s hard not to admire this guy’s incredible clarity under both pressure and pain.

All three suspects, and Irving himself, were hospitalized. All three are expected to survive, and the three suspects are in jail.

Chalk one up for the good guys.

postheadericon Intruders Give Homeowner Options: Give Gold Or Get Lead — He Chose Option C: Give Lead

SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE — Three armed intruders broke into a man’s home around 2 a.m. and demanded money from him. At gun point, he got out his own handgun and opened fire with a single round. The two suspects fled the scene but one managed to strike the man’s hand with a bullet before departing. Police got the man to a hospital where he received treatment.

Springfield police told WKRN News that all three intruders wore bandanas over their faces but are believed to be young men. No one showed up to the hospital following the incident so it’s believed that the single shot must not have caused significant damage.

It happens. One against three at two o’clock in the morning? It’s amazing this man was able to defend himself at all. Thanks to having a gun nearby, he could.

He did get shot in the hand. That will take a long time to come back from and there will be lingering damage. But he retains his life, his property, and sends a pretty strong message to the three intruders that he won’t passively lie down and accept whatever happens.

Standing up for yourself can have direct consequences. Whether it’s an armed confrontation or some other conflict, there’s no guarantee of success. What you’re doing is asserting the opportunity.

There is always an opportunity to come out on top — whether that’s defined as simply being alive, not being robbed, or some life goal in mind.

Respect is not a default condition for humans. Respect is earned and it is given when appropriate. Demanding respect from strangers is moronic and from armed intruders, arguably insane. They owe you nothing — not even the common decency of safety in exchange for compliance.

The idea that respect should be given freely amongst all is little more than bad propaganda that holds absolutely no weight in the cold light of reality. If you treat strangers with respect, that’s a reflection of who you are as a person. It’s something I personally try to strive for. It’s not a guarantee. And I would not expect someone who is willing to kick my door down and put a gun in my face to give me any more or less.

In those situations, a person has to make a choice — defend himself and be hurt or killed or don’t defend himself and still be hurt or killed.

With both options leading mostly to the same place, I’ll chose A. Most concealed carriers and gun owners do. And that’s why we always keep a gun nearby at night and we carry a gun every single day.

postheadericon Homeowner Shoots 2 Armed Intruders, One Leaves With His Life

TAWAS CITY, MICHIGAN — Police discovered a homeowner going door to door with a gun, seeking help after a violent home invasion left one suspect dead and another seriously injured. Officers investigating the scene saw one slain suspect still had his mask on while the other managed to get a small distance before collapsing.

via Michigan Live

“The initial investigation revealed the subject who was going door to door was seeking help regarding a home invasion and robbery which had just occurred in his residence,” said Special 1st Lt. David Kaiser in the press release.

The police initially responded to 911 calls relating to the sound of rifle fire. Because the crime occurred around 8:20 p.m., it was likely dark out and homeowners were naturally suspicious of anyone going door-to-door with a gun in his hand.

Thankfully, police arrived and were able to assess the situation and see that the homeowner had indeed defended himself against two armed attackers. He did not know either of them. According to his testimony, the two masked robbers broke down his door and were brandishing hunting knives. He retrieved a rifle and shot both of them — one of them critically and the other was immediately killed.

There’s a good chance the 66-year-old man was absolutely in shock after having to defend his life from two violent strangers.

This is one of the hard realities of defensive gun use. It can be hard to push aside the traumatic effects of the incident itself and seek help from those nearby. People may either be hesitant to help or be in fear themselves.

The suspect that was critically injured is currently undergoing medical treatment for his injuries. No further word on his status but if he survives, he will be in custody until charges are brought against him by the District Attorney’s office. The slain robber had his name kept from the original news article pending notification to his next-of-kin.

In either case, there’s absolutely no doubt in my mind that this scenario would have ended extremely poorly for this homeowner if he had not been able to get hold of a firearm. These two suspects were not at all interested in just stealing a few things and leaving. That’s why it’s so important to stay armed, every single day, especially in the house. It’s impossible to anticipate when you will need a firearm, so keep one close no matter where you go.
