postheadericon WATCH: AR-15 Owner Destroys Gun On TV To Help End Mass Shootings

As I sat here sucking on a ring pop that my fiancée bought, I was trying to think of something more ridiculous than a grown man sucking on a ring pop. True story.

Then, I was shown the way when California resident Chad Vachter stepped into my life via the internet.

Vachter was looking for some publicity, and boy has he received it. It’s not the first time that someone has destroyed or turned in firearms to show their support to end mass shootings, and it certainty won’t be the last.

He’s a gun owner and 2nd Amendment supporter, but damn, he’s doing it the wrong way.

For those with weak stomachs, you may not want to watch this beautiful rifle meet it’s end:

He told reporters, who were conveniently there during the destruction;

“I can’t do it,” he said. “I can’t have something in my house that so easily could become a part of another situation like that, and I’m not going to be desensitized to it. I refuse to.”

It almost sounds like he’s scared that he will go commit a mass shooting. Of course that’s not the case, but is he really afraid that it’ll be stolen and used to kill people? If it’s properly stored, that shouldn’t happen.

Oh well. Back to the media attention.

“The other night, when I read the thing about the school in northern California, I cried and I haven’t felt good since,” he said. “And although I’m still sad for all those victims and all the people affected, I feel like I’ve done the only thing that I can do in this equation. Even if it’s just a small thing, I did my part to make things better.”

Vachter did keep some of his guns, including a shotgun and a pistol. He may be unaware, but given his logic, he should have instead destroyed the pistol. Those are used in mass shooting far more than rifles.

I hope that Vachter doesn’t ever have to face a mass shooter like hero Stephen Willeford did in Texas. His now-destroyed AR-15 would have been a much better candidate against a  gunman in a similar situation.

He also encourages other gun owners to follow suit and do as he did to their ‘assault weapons’. It’s nice that he used the term, since we know that the media eats it up like I’m eating this ring pop.

In closing, I’d like to counter Vachter’s address to gun owners looking to take him up on his request;

Instead of destroying your firearms so as to keep them out of the hands of the next mass shooter, get in contact with me so that we can arrange them to be shipped and taken into my possession. I have the means of properly storing them, so they won’t be stolen. It’s because I’m responsible.

postheadericon Sheriff Urges Citizens To Carry Firearms Following Texas Mass Shooting

POLK COUNTY, FLORIDA — Sheriff Grady Judd tweeted that their county offers active shooter scenario training shortly after the massacre at a Texas church, and encouraged citizens to attend and to arm themselves if they are legally able to do so.

Sheriff Judd has made headlines in the past, and isn’t afraid to speak his mind on topics that are important to him. The video above shows just how Judd operates, and of course you have people who both agree and disagree with him.

But on the topic of concealed carry, I’d bet that he has most people in his corner. His active approach to getting citizens their concealed carry permits –and important training– are something that we would love to see across the Country.

So regardless of where you live, take Sheriff Judd’s advice if you don’t already have your permit and/or training: Get the permit, get armed, get trained, and be prepared.

postheadericon WATCH: Hero Who Engaged Texas Mass Shooter Sits Down With Louder With Crowder In Exclusive Interview

Stephen Willeford is a hero in every sense of the word and after watching the interview above, it’s apparent that Willeford is a well-rounded and very loved individual. He’s a family man, and an active member in his community. He is humble and puts others ahead of himself.

He is also a man of action, and did not hesitate to grab his firearm in order to do the right thing: Stop a massacre that was happening right next door.

Mr. Willeford offers details of the incident, including simple facts such as him leaving the house armed and barefoot. When asked why he was barefoot, his explanation was simple:

Every time I heard a shot I was thinking, that was assigned to someone else. That shot was assigned to… he was shooting at another person every time I heard a shot fired, and I didn’t have time to put shoes on.

As soon as Mr. Willeford got close to the gunman, he noticed that he was wearing a Kevlar vest. Having his wits with him, Mr. Willeford fired shots at the space between the front and back of the vest where the Velcro is located, which is the vulnerable spot on these vests. In other words, the sides are not protected by Kevlar.

And later, autopsy reports would show that Mr. Willeford hit the suspect twice; once in the leg and once in the torso.

In closing this article, Mr. Willeford got a little political towards the end of the interview when it comes to gun control and restricting what citizens are able to own. Mr. Willeford is a bright individual who gets it, even more so because he was personally faced with a madman.

If I had run out of the house with a pistol and faced a bulletproof vest and Kevlar helmet, it might have been futile. And I ran out with an AR-15, and that’s what he was shooting the place up with. And I hate to politicize that, but that’s reality.

Please give the video interview a watch. It’s worth every minute, and I am grateful that Mr. Willeford gave his account and was so open about his experience when faced with a mass shooter.

Mr. Willeford is a hero, and we praise him and his quick actions that day.

postheadericon In A Shocking Discovery, This “No Firearms” Sign Failed To Prevent A Mass Shooting Over The Weekend

CINCINNATI, OHIO — With no arrests and one dead, a total of 16 people were injured inside a nightclub early Sunday morning. The shooting happened at Cameo nightclub in Cincinnati just after 1 am, and police believe that multiple people were responsible for firing the shots.

In a photo taken at the scene, seen above, the Gun Free Zone sign was of little influence to the multiple people who brought guns into the establishment.

Police say that numerous people at the bar got into an argument which eventually escalated into gunfire. The man who was killed, 27-year-old O’Bryan Spikes, was a father and college student who frequented the bar.

“There’s no reason that anyone should ever feel like they could go into a club, shoot a club up, because they’re upset with someone who disrespected them or otherwise hurt them earlier in the day,” Cincinnati Councilwoman Yvette Simpson said. “So I continue to say, yes, guns kill people, but people kill people.”

The club isn’t a stranger to violence, having experienced shootings in the past. That may be why the ‘No Guns’ sign hangs in the door, but we all know it’s just a piece of paper and a warning.

The club is even said to wand people as they enter, but somehow multiple firearms were still brought in.

Is it me, or do gun free zones simply not work?

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — There is a developing story of a mass shooting at the Rolling Oaks Mall in San Antonio, Texas. The media is still waiting to be briefed. Law enforcement and FBI are on the scene and securing the mall shop-by-shop.

UPDATE: The Rolling Oaks Mall has been secured by police as of 6:30 PM EST. They are continuing to search for one armed suspect who escaped the scene.

News 4 Antonio reports six victims in total. One is confirmed deceased.

Two Good Samaritans were shot trying to intervene in the armed robbery. The first suspect has also been shot and wounded by one of the Good Samaritans who had a concealed carry handgun. The second suspect escaped and injured several people with gunfire on his way out.

via News 4 San Antonio

An unarmed man attempted to stop the robbery and was shot and killed. A second man pulled out his concealed weapon and shot one of the suspects. The second suspect fled the scene, shooting as he ran. Their conditions have not been released.

CBS Dallas Fort-Worth confirms that it was an attempted robbery on a jewelry store. It is still believed to be two suspects involved. When a Good Samaritan tried to intervene, he was shot and killed. A second Good Samaritan drew his concealed carry handgun and also attempted to intervene but was also shot.

It is still unknown whether the concealed carrier’s rounds are what brought down the first suspect in this case.

UPDATE 2: The concealed carrier is believed to have critically injured one of the suspects before being injured himself by gunshots. As one of the armed robbers fled the scene, he shot additional people (CBS Austin).

FINAL UPDATE: San Antonio Police gave a brief statement for News 4 San Antonio at approximately 7:00 PM EST. They confirmed that the first Good Samaritan who intervened in a botched armed robbery attempt at the Kay Jewelers in the Rolling Oaks Mall was, indeed, killed as a result of gunshots received from one or both of the armed robbers.

A concealed carrier also intervened and critically shot one of the armed robbers before being shot himself. He is currently receiving care for his injuries and our thoughts and prayers are both with him and his family.

The second armed robber successfully escaped the scene and shot several people on his way out. He has not been identified at this time and his whereabouts are unknown. San Antonio Police ask for the public’s assistance in identifying the second suspect.

The first suspect, who was critically injured, is currently receiving medical attention. His status is unknown at this time.

postheadericon Here Is How I Want The Next Mass Shooting To Go

What a horrible title for an article, but it’s something that we all know is going to happen again. Instead of all the talk of gun control, let’s talk about a real-life solution. I know I’m going to be preaching to the choir and that many of my following thoughts will reflect yours, but it’s important to look at these realities and move forward with them.

A mass shooting, like we saw in Orlando, will happen again. It’s only a matter of time.

A guy walks into a bar. No, this isn’t a joke. He walks in with the intentions of doing as much harm as possible, and you’re in there with him. He shoots indiscriminately at you and your friends, and anyone else who happened to pick the wrong place at the wrong time. It’s not your fault, of course, but what can you do to prepare for something like this?

I can tell you one thing for sure: No one in that club thought it’d happen. It likely didn’t cross their minds as they made the decision to go out that night. But it did happen, and many lives were lost, along with countless other lives destroyed by this singular event.

My case is going to be for concealed carry, so let’s get one important thing out of the way. There has always been a lot of talk regarding concealed carry and establishments that serve alcohol. What many don’t know, however, is that numerous states allow the two together. And guess what; we don’t hear blood and horror in the news. While I’m not saying that someone should carry a firearm while they’re drinking, I am saying that I see no problem with a responsible, armed citizen, who is the DD for the night… bringing his or her firearm along. There may be a change-up in the way they carry, such as deeper concealment, but it doesn’t seem irresponsible to me. If you’re carrying, you are in control of your firearm. It’s as simple as that.

Back to the scenario.

A guy walks into a bar. He starts shooting. No one in that establishment has any means of fighting back with equal force. He continues shooting. More people die. Three hours pass until police finally take him out. This is not to criticize the police response, and I’m sure they did what they could to help as soon as they could. This is to highlight three hours of absolute terror for everyone in that building, and they couldn’t do a thing to stop it.

Here’s my scenario.

A guy walks into a bar. He starts shooting. Jim is there with his three friends. Jim’s the DD for the night and decided to bring his Glock 19 with him. He’s safe, responsible, and carries everywhere he goes.

Jim immediately realizes what’s taking place and gets to a location for cover. His friends come with him. As the gunman makes his way around the room, Jim watches closely and is scared to death, just as everyone else is.

Then, Jim sees an opportunity. The gunman’s rifle jams. It happened in Orlando. Jim draws his Glock 19 and immediately fires three shots at the gunman. He misses each time, but it was enough for the gunman to take notice. He now has to contend with someone in the same room, who also has a firearm.

The scenario changes dramatically.

The gunman takes cover and clears his malfunction and is ready to fire again. Instead of shooting at random people, his undivided attention is now on the person who was firing back. As the gunman ponders his next move, many people are able to get to safety. They now have a window of opportunity to get out. To stay alive.

While the gunman has his head down, Jim fires two more shots. The gunman sees where the shots are coming from and fires in that direction. Jim returns fire a few more times.

Realizing that this is the end, the gunman, now up against force, turns his gun on himself and ends his own life.

It’s happened, and hardly anyone talked about it.

In so many cases, such as the Newtown Shooting, the bad guy ended his life when resistance had arrived. They know it’s over at that point and would rather go out on their own terms. If we have millions of concealed carriers across the Country who can intervene, wouldn’t you want one there if you found yourself face-to-face with this kind of evil?

It’s never a guarantee, just like anything else, but dammit… it helps to level the playing field.

And that’s how I want the next mass shooting to go.

postheadericon Orlando Mass Shooting In Gay Club Leaves 50 Dead, 53 Injured

ORLANDO, FLORIDA — While final figures are still pending, it appears that fifty people have been killed and fifty three injured in an attack on a gay night club in Orlando, Florida, just before closing time around 2 a.m. on Sunday. To be clear, it’s the third attack perpetrated by an alleged Islamic terrorist who has claimed ISIS affiliation in the past two years. While media scramble to figure out how they’re going to spin this story, we’re going to cement the details as they’re presented.

Just before the attacks are alleged to have taken place, the shooter is confirmed to have called 911 and pledged his allegiance to ISIS prior to engaging in the attack, according to NBC News. This and other details have strongly pushed the FBI’s stance in designating this an act of domestic terrorism.

Florida police have confirmed that he does have several firearms-related permits including a concealed carry license and a security guard permit — both of which he actively used in his profession as a security guard.

And that’s where the details pretty much end. As we’ve stated in the past: we don’t care about the shooter. His personal ideology, philosophy, or whatever it was that drove him to prematurely ending the lives of several dozen people are really of little concern.

What is concerning is there appears to be an increase in these types of incidents in the last two years.

orlando-florida-gay-club-shooting-video

  • The first one we covered happened in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and the target was a Marine Corps recruiting depot and reserve center.
  • The second was the San Bernardino shootings in a mental health facility, carried out by a man and his wife for supposed ideological reasons.

And now there’s this.

While anti-gun media will focus on what type of firearm the shooter used, perhaps we need to be discussing a bigger picture of how we can better protect ourselves from these sorts of attacks in the future.

The problem is that the government is not good at identifying these types of individuals prior to them executing their vile attacks. We’ve seen it in both domestic terrorism cases as well as just routine cases as well.

The government cannot protect you. You must make steps to protect yourself.

We cannot openly advocate for people to carry concealed while going out into situations that involve an altered state of thinking. That said, perhaps it’s time to have a designated buddy. We have designated drivers when we go out to drink, perhaps we need designated concealed carriers — guys and gals who don’t mind being sober and don’t mind staying equipped with a daily carry handgun.

Before anyone boo-hoos this idea: it’s worked in the past to stop a mass shooting in a bar. In 2008, one bar patron who was legally carrying a concealed handgun, successfully stopped a man who indiscriminately opened fire in a bar. These types of stories don’t fit the media narrative, so don’t expect people to be talking about it all the time — but a good guy or gal with a gun is truly the only defense for a bad guy with a gun. It’s inconvenient for the media narrative, but that doesn’t mean it’s not true.

You can wait for the FBI to identify the next domestic terrorist prior to that terrorist attacking a place that’s arguably a gun free zone… But if you’re holding your breath, that’ll be quite a feat.

The best solution is having a well armed, well trained populace that is knowledgeable and accountable with firearms. Our condolences go out to the families affected in Orlando and we pray for a speedy recovery to the injured.

postheadericon Off-duty Officer Stops Mass Stabbing In Massachusetts

TAUNTON, MASSACHUSETTS — Neighbors were allegedly helpless to watch as a man violently entered a woman’s home and stabbed her and her daughter. They stood by and watched as he fled the scene only to steal a vehicle and then drive it into a nearby Macy’s. The stabbing continued until he was finally shot and killed by an off-duty police officer.

Standing by and watching a violent crime take place and doing absolutely nothing — that’s a “gun free zone” mentality. Thankfully, at least one off-duty police in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts demonstrated a willingness to intercede and stop it according to WMUR.

The slain murderer, in this case, appears to have gone completely out of his mind according to witnesses talking to WMUR. After the first crash that happened in the neighborhood of the mother and daughter, this bad guy allegedly stole a vehicle and raced around like a mad man doing whatever damage he could manage until being put down like a rabid dog.

via WMUR

“I came out and I heard girls running and people screaming, ‘There’s a guy,’” she said. “We’re used to guys entering the store, so we thought he must have had a gun. I ran with them. I was scared.”

Great. Get to safety. Watch helplessly as more people get attacked and mauled by a mad man. This is precisely why we need more responsible, trained concealed carriers and why imposing arbitrary gun restrictions on otherwise law-abiding citizens is both ridiculous and inane.

“All of a sudden, he walked into Bertucci’s and I saw him just start stabbing people,” one witness said. “And there was someone with a chair trying to throw it at (the suspect). There was an off-duty police officer there, and he actually shot him and kept him down.”

To the man in Bertucci’s that got up and attempted to protect himself and others: good job. You may not have known there was an off-duty police officer right behind you ready to put this guy down, but you stood and fought.

We generally advocate avoid, deny, and then fight. People have families they want to go home to, places they want to go, things they want to do. That’s understandable. And it’s impossible to know what conditions gave way to create the sort of madness within this man whereby he felt compelled to attack multiple people in multiple locations on a spontaneous whimsy. That said, I will always applaud and respect deeply those who are willing to sacrifice their own well-being to defend the lives of themselves and those around them.

postheadericon Kalamazoo Gunman Blames Uber For His Mass Murder Spree

By Robert Farago via The Truth About Guns

“A Kalamazoo Uber driver accused of killing six people and wounding two others last month told police that the ride-sharing app took over his ‘mind and body’ and made him carry out the rampage,”freep.com reports. “In a series of interviews with police in the hours after the Feb. 20 shootings, Jason Dalton, 45, blamed the killings on the Uber app, saying his iPhone directed him where to go and when to shoot people.” Analog cab companies who have been hurt by the on-line ride provider now know the secret behind Uber’s success: it’s a tool of Satan . . .

Dalton told police that earlier that Saturday when he opened up the Uber ride service app, a symbol, which he believed was the Eastern Star, popped up. Dalton said the symbol resembled a devil’s head and “that’s when all the problems started.”

“Dalton described the devil figure as a horned cow head or something like that and then it would give you an assignment and it would literally take over your whole body,” according to police reports released Monday to the Free Press by the Kalamazoo City Attorney’s Office.

But despite his well documented malevolence, the boys in blue enjoyed some sympathy from the Devil.

Dalton said he would have gotten in a shootout with police when he was arrested, but the app directed him not to.

Or maybe Dalton’s just full of bovine fertilizer.

His wife, Carole Dalton, told investigators with the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office that he had told her a different story. She said he told her that day that he was having problems with a jealous taxi driver who’d shot at him, and that she should stay away from their home unless she was armed, according to sheriff’s reports also released Monday.

Not that an altercation like that — if it ever really happened — explains gunning down six innocent people. Either way, it’s yet another argument for staying calm and carrying one. And, if you’re a driver, maybe switching to Lyft.
