Not too long ago, a few videos surfaced that showed the user hitting an Honor Defense Honor Guard pistol on the rear of the slide with a rubber mallet, making the firearm discharge. Drop tests were also conducted and at times, the firearm would discharge.

Gainesville, GA (January 18, 2017) – All Honor Defense pistols meet or exceed industry and U.S.A standards for safety. These include the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) / Sporting Arms Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute, Inc. (SAAMI®), and the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) test protocols. Abusive handling (drop tests and jar off tests) have been conducted internally and confirmed by an outside laboratory recognized by the State of California.

Recent events indicate that handling an Honor Guard pistol beyond U.S.A. safety standards by dropping or striking the firearm with a hammer may cause an unintentional discharge. As a result, Honor Defense has developed an upgrade to the Honor Guard striker assembly (within the slide).

To receive the upgrade, go the Honor Defense website and follow the directions outlined in the Honor Guard Upgrade section. Once received, Honor Defense will upgrade your slide unit and promptly return it to you.

This upgrade will provide increased drop performance beyond U.S.A safety standards and is available to all owners of an Honor Guard pistol.

June 8, 2017, Dayton, Ohio – Inland Manufacturing, LLC is proud to introduce the US Army 1st Infantry Division 100th Anniversary Commemorative models of two iconic firearms, the Inland M1 Carbine and the 1911A1 pistol.

On, June 8, 1917, the US Army 1st Infantry Division was organized at Fort Jay on Governors Island in New York Harbor, under the command of Brigadier General William L. Sibert. The 1st Infantry Division is the oldest continuously serving unit in the regular Army of the United States. Since its return from Germany after WWII, the 1st Infantry Division has been based at Fort Riley, Kansas.

The 1st Infantry Division leadership wanted to recognize this historic anniversary with special commemorative firearms, and reached out to Inland Manufacturing for assistance in creating two models that would have historical significance for the centennial event.

The first model chosen was the 1944 version of the iconic M1 Carbine. The new Inland M1 carbines feature many of the same characteristics of the original Inland carbines and are manufactured in the USA! The 1944 version of the M1 carbine features a type 2 barrel band, adjustable rear sights, push button safety, round bolt, and “low wood” walnut stock. The stock is hand rubbed with oil, and is embellished with engraving of the 1st Infantry Division’s shoulder patch, accomplishments, and of course recognition of the 100th year anniversary. This 100th anniversary model carbine retails for $ 1179.00* and is shipped with a ten-round magazine which also makes it legal in states with large capacity magazine restrictions.

The second model chosen was the Inland 1911A1 Government Model pistol, chambered in .45 ACP. The 1911A1 is patterned after the original 1911 that was designed over 100 years ago, modified in 1924 and then designated the Model 1911A1. The 1911A1 found service with members of the 1st Infantry Division longer than any other firearm in the division’s history, and was a natural choice for a commemorative model.

The Inland 1911A1 Government Model maintains historic military style with added modern safety features. The original “G.I.” configuration includes vertical slide serrations, fixed combat sights, GI style grip panels and a lanyard loop.

The 1st Division Infantry Anniversary model features engraving on the slide (right side) of the 1st Infantry Division’s shoulder patch, accomplishments, and recognition of the 1917-2017 100th year anniversary. The 1st Division Infantry Anniversary Model 1911A1 retails for $ 829.00*

REDMOND, Wash. — Dec. 1, 2016 — On Thursday, Microsoft Corp. renewed its Affordable Access Initiative grant fund for a second year. The fund assists companies working to bring internet access and new technologies, services and models to underserved markets. The application process is now open for a new set of partners.

“The social enterprises we support have inspired us with practical, high-impact and scalable approaches to help close the digital divide,” said Microsoft Affordable Access Initiatives Director Paul Garnett, writing in NextBillion. “It’s a privilege to see these solutions take shape, and to play a role in helping local entrepreneurs spur job creation and economic growth.”

In the fund’s first round of investments, Microsoft awarded grants to 12 businesses offering affordable internet access or cloud-based services in fields such as power generation, health, education, finance and agriculture.

AirJaldi, a 2016 grant recipient, provides high-quality Wi-Fi broadband connectivity at reasonable rates to more than 90,000 public- and private-sector clients in rural India. Vista Africa, another recipient from last year, is a cloud-based software platform that helps healthcare providers more easily screen, track and treat patients’ health in areas where connectivity is limited.

In addition to receiving funding and software to help power and develop their businesses, grant recipients will join a growing ecosystem of other grantees and funders to further increase their impact.

This initiative is also connected to the work of Microsoft Philanthropies, which is helping to bring technology’s benefits to those who need them most. Microsoft Philanthropies is making its digital literacy, online safety and computer science education programs available to grant recipients and the communities they serve.

“Too many people around the world lack internet connectivity and the educational, commercial and economic benefits of cloud-based services,” said Mary Snapp, corporate vice president and head of Microsoft Philanthropies. “Affordable Access Initiative grants, and the technology ecosystems they help support, empower entrepreneurs to provide connectivity, which then enables the creation of critical services for those who need it most.”

How to apply

Applicants must be commercial organizations with two or more full-time employees and have a prototype of a working solution and preferably paying customers. Such products and business models might combine new cloud services and applications, low-cost forms of internet connectivity, and new payment mechanisms designed for consumers and smaller businesses in underserved markets. REDMOND, Wash. — Dec. 9, 2015 — Microsoft Corp. announced today the creation of a Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) Linux on Azure certification. Created in conjunction with the Linux Foundation, the nonprofit organization enabling mass innovation through open source, this certification represents one more important step in broadening the technology integration between Microsoft and the open source community.

The Linux on Azure certification will be awarded to individuals who pass both the Microsoft Exam 70-533 (Implementing Microsoft Azure Infrastructure Solutions) and the Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator (LFCS) exam. The certification will be issued by Microsoft and will be available starting today, Dec. 9, 2015.

The two exams combine Linux administration and Microsoft Azure implementation skills and will demonstrate the candidate’s ability to design, implement and maintain complex cloud-enabled Linux solutions that take advantage of Microsoft Azure’s extensive features and capabilities.

“The Linux Foundation is the leading organization representing stakeholder interests in the open source ecosystem. That, combined with its proven commitment to professional, distribution-flexible and performance-based certifications, makes it a natural choice for our partner for Linux on Azure certifications,” said Steven Guggenheimer, chief evangelist at Microsoft.

Companies want to realize the cost savings of the cloud and add value to their existing investments, which include a diverse set of vendors and technologies, including Linux and open source software. Azure is an open and flexible platform with a collection of building blocks that helps customers realize maximum value for their investments in the cloud. postheadericon Brown University offers Office 365 to students at no additional cost through Microsoft Student Advantage

REDMOND, Wash. — April 22, 2014 — Brown University has selected Microsoft Office 365 for its students, and is using the Microsoft Student Advantage benefit to extend the service to its student body at no additional cost using their existing Brown credentials. Available since Jan. 1, Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus gives Brown’s approximate 8,600 students the tools they need to complete coursework from any device while in school and compete in the job market after graduation.

Until now, students who wished to use Office had to purchase it for themselves or rely on third-party programs that didn’t always sync well with one another. Office on the Windows platform offers students a full enterprise experience, but many students use a variety of devices, such as iPhones, iPads, PCs and desktop computers, so Brown needed a unified solution that would provide students with the same, robust experience no matter what device they are using. Microsoft Student Advantage, which launched Dec. 1, 2013, enables academic institutions that license Office for staff and faculty to provide Office 365 ProPlus for students at no additional cost.

“When our chief information officer heard about Student Advantage, he wanted us to make it available to students as quickly as possible, and we were able to extend the service to students in about one month,” said Geoffrey Greene, director of IT Support Services, Brown University. “Students have been champing at the bit for this, and faculty have frequently asked us to help students get the solution, so it’s a great benefit for everyone. Plus, a lot of our students use laptops, iPhones and other devices, so Office 365 was the perfect solution for us.”

Extending the Office 365 service to students helps Brown ensure that students have the technical tools they need to succeed in their classes, and that their software is always up to date. The Daily Herald student blog helped alert students to the new offering in time for the start of the new semester.

“The Microsoft Student Advantage is an incredible opportunity for all students to gain access to the Office programs,” said Sazzy Gourley, student at Brown University. “Especially for incoming first-years, or for those who are purchasing new computers, Microsoft Student Advantage makes accessible the technology students need to be academically successful.”

LAS VEGAS — Oct. 7, 2013 — Monday at the Money 2020 event in Las Vegas, leading merchants and companies from ecommerce, banking, payments and social media unveiled The CardLinx Association, a new interoperability organization to enhance the consumer experience with local commerce and card linked offers. Founding members of The CardLinx Association include Microsoft Corp., Bank of America, Discover, Deem, Facebook, First Data Corp., Linkable Networks Inc., LivingSocial, MasterCard, Affinity Solutions Inc., CardSpring Inc. and Cardlytics.

As the “offers” space has become more popular, consumers have often found it cumbersome to take advantage of the variety of offers, which has slowed growth in the industry. Card linked offers help solve that problem by giving merchants and advertisers the ability to deliver an offer or deal to consumers via their credit, debit or other payment cards without having to use a paper coupon, voucher or promotion code on their mobile devices. The mission of The CardLinx Association is to establish increased interoperability, eliminate friction and promote the growth of the card linked offers industry.
